Adonis Golden Ratio System

Adonis Golden Ratio System

The ads and links you see around this website help pay for the site when you buy something after clicking.  I often look for things associated with the topic of a particular post that might benefit you.  The other day, I was looking for something on weight loss and muscle building that might be of interest.  I came across the Adonis Golden Ratio System.  You can go ahead and click that link to see the video pitch for the product and buy it.  Keep reading if you’d rather learn more about it first and see what I thought of it.  This is my review of the Adonis Golden Ratio training and nutrition system.

What is the Adonis Golden Ratio

According to John Barban, author of this program:

“It is a specific ratio of your shoulder circumference to your waist circumference that best predicts your ‘ideal’ body complete with an ideal male hormonal profile. In short it’s our ‘best guess’ at your ideal body.”

What You Get with the Adonis Golden Ratio System

When you go to buy the system, you will be offered some add-ons or upsells, that you can buy in addition to the basic package.  I purchased the basic system without any add-ons simply because if it’s as good as claimed,  the add-ons are unnecessary.  Take a close look though,  the add-ons may be things that interest you more than me.

After buying the system, you  get an email with a link, username and password that allows you entry to the Adonis Golden Ratio System website.  Once into the website you will find a dashboard that lists the sections for which you purchased access.  The basic purchase gives you complete access to:Adonis

  • Adonis Golden Ratio
  • Booster Series including
    • Exercise Gallery
    • Arms And Abs Assault
    • Back Specialization
    • Calf Specialization
    • Chest Specialization
    • Legs Specialization
    • Shoulder Specialization
  • AGR Nutrition Software
  • Two Special Bonuses
    • 7 Days Out
    • 17 Cheat Foods that Burn Fat

Let’s take a look at each of these in turn.

Adonis Golden Ratio

This is the heart of the program.  According to the authors, this section is:michelangelo

“. . . our most successful muscle building, fat loss system for guys who want to achieve that sculpted taper and strong lean Adonis look. It’s not one but three sets of three incredible resources, designed by our expert team led by John Barban. You’re about to download an incredible amount of information with step-by-step training, the lowdown on supplements, and absolutely crucial nutritional knowledge.”

There is nothing to prevent women from using the program, but it is designed for men.  Barban has another program called the Venus Factor System specifically for women.  It is primarily a nutrition program that focuses on fat loss, but also includes a 12-week exercise regimen.

At the top of the page for this section is the Adonis Golden Ratio Calculator.  This is a simple calculator that takes your height, weight and waist measurement and assigns you to one of three programs the system offers:

  • Category One – Primary Goal Muscle Gain
  • Category Two – Primary Goal Fat Loss
  • Category Three – Primary Goal Combined Muscle Gain & Fat Loss

In reality, I qualify for Category Two.  I played around with the calculator a bit and found that if I was closer to my ideal weight, I’d fall into category Three.  If I was in good shape already,  the focus would be Category One.  You can probably figure out which category would work for you without the calculator, but it is a quick way to take out the guesswork.

At the bottom of the page are links to each 12-week program that you can either follow on the website or download as a PDF (59 pages).  The program recommends a  series of exercises to perform each day for four days per week over a 12-week period.  Each day is different.  The fat loss program, for example, involves the following exercises just for day one:

  • Push-upsPush-ups
  • Body Weight Squat
  • Curl and Press
  • Close Hand Push-ups
  • Prisoner Squat
  • Bent Dumbbell Row
  • Reverse Lungesquat
  • Wide Grip Pulldown
  • Stability Ball Curl Ups
  • Incline Dumbbell Press
  • Standing Calf Raises
  • Stability Ball Roll Outs
  • Dips
  • Seated Calf Raise
  • Squat and Press

Whew!  It’s quite a workout for someone that is overweight and out of shape.  It also assumes that you are going to a gym since many of the exercises require dumbbells, a weight machine, a stability ball, incline bench, or a dip station.  As you progress through the program a variety of different pieces of equipment are needed.  Each exercise is demonstrated in a short video, so that you can do them properly – you’ll probably need your phone, iPad or laptop at the gym for this.

In addition to the three weight loss/muscle building programs, the system includes:

  • A supplementation guide for each category that promotes products from BioTrust,  a company created in 2012 by  Joel Marion and Josh Bezoni.  Apparently the authors of the Adonis Golden Ratio Program are affiliates, so they make some money if you buy BioTrust products.
  • A nutrition guide for each category that explains the physiology and recommended foods for success in the program.  It’s a 38 page book (PDF).
  • Testosterone video tutorial series where you can learn the basic’s of what to do and what to avoid for maximizing your fat burning potential and your testosterone levels

Booster Series

This is a series of e-books (PDF) that get more focussed on muscle building.  Each addresses a specific part of the body and is to be done in addition to the main exercise program.  An exercise gallery is also included.

Exercise Gallery

This is a 78-page ebook that lists each of the exercises and includes a description and photographs that explain how each works.  The videos mentioned above are more enlightening, but if you watch the videos at home, it may be more convenient to take the book to the gym with you either printed or on your device.

Arms And Abs Assault

This is a program that offers the ability to specifically strengthen your arms and your core area in four weeks with two workouts per week.  Barban suggests that the program be added to an off day as you work through the main program.  The program uses supersets, a workout system involving the  performance of two exercises back to back with no rest between them. It then adds an antagonist component that integrates work across two different muscles that work in opposing directions.  The 11-page ebook provides a list of the exercises to perform in each session and, like the main program, includes links to videos where you an see how to properly perform each exercise.

Back Specialization

This is another program (seven pages) with exercises to perform in workouts twice a week over four weeks.  It focuses on the back using a system that works every back muscle by performing exercises at various angles.

Calf Specialization

Obviously the focus is on the calf with this program.  It’s a little different from the others in that it involves three levels that are increasingly difficult. The first level is done two days per week over two weeks, the second level three times per week over two weeks, and the third level four times per week over two weeks.

Chest Specialization

This is another four-week, twice per week program.  The exercises work the chest in various ways.

Legs Specialization

This is a four-week, twice per week program.  It uses pyramid sets that involve using lighter weights at high repetitions that build to heavier weights at low repetitions.

Shoulder Specialization

This program build shoulder muscle over a four week period, two days per week regimen.

AGR Nutrition Software

This is another calculator that adds your shoulder measurement, age and time spent exercising to the calculator that determined the program you should follow.  Using all this information, it calculates your:

  • ideal waist size
  • ideal shoulder circumference
  • ideal weight range
  • target weight
  • maintenance calories
  • suggested daily calorie intake
  • maximum possible weekly fat loss
  • possible daily water weight fluctuation and
  • suggested daily protein intake.

Special Bonuses

There are two special bonuses:

7 Days Out

This is a 19 page ebook by Kyle Leon.  It offers a seven-day program to enhance your physique beyond your regular exercise program.  In fact it is designed for people that have been working out for at least a year and are already lean.  It won’t do much for the rest of us.  The program includes no cardio exercise and focuses on nutrition and exercising six main muscle groups.  The text references a “custom nutritional and training software program that determines your exact requirements for everyday of this program”  however I didn’t find a link to that program..

17 Cheat Foods that Burn Fat

cheat foodsThis is a 31-page ebook by Joel Marion and Brett Hall.  It uses the fact that in order to lose weight the body must have high levels of the hormone  leptin and highly sensitive leptin “receptors.”  This is also the basis of much of the Adonis Golden Ratio Program.

When dieting, leptin levels fall making it difficult to lose weight.  The idea behind “cheat foods” is to periodically go off your healthy diet and thus cause increased leptin levels.  The second part of the solution is to increase leptin sensitivity and that is done by following a particular and easy diet that involves eating nothing with more than one ingredient in it.  Actually simply dropping all forms of bread from your diet may do it pretty well too.

The book then goes on to pitch BioTrust Lepto Burn (Marion is one of the founders of the company).  By the way, it seems that buying the Adonis program or downloading this special bonus will both get you on a mailing list for BioTrust, but you can unsubscribe any time.

Will the Adonis Golden Ratio System Work?

Based upon what I have seen with all the exercise involved,  I imagine that, if you follow through, it will have a profound positive effect upon your body and your health.  I don’t know how it could fail.

However,  before you jump in, you must be at least able to pull off the first day’s regime that includes three sets of 21 pushups with a minute for rest between them.  Just that one requirement may be more than some baby boomers can do.  Further,  expect to spend a lot of time at a gym as many of the exercises require specific equipment.

If it still works for you, you must have the commitment to stick to the program throughout the 12-week period.  One of the add-ons I didn’t buy offers to help with that.  Barban calls it “Adonis Immersion.”  If you don’t buy it up front, you can get the first month free, then it costs $632 in the form of eight monthly payments of $79 each.  For that you get lifetime access to the Adonis community, bi-weekly coaching calls, audio and video podcasts with the latest information on a wide range of topics, workout of the month, and a supplements database.

Conclusion

Clearly this is not a scam.  The mass of information and exercise programs you receive are well worth the cost.

If you think you have what it takes, click this link to the Adonis Golden Ratio System and give it a shot.  If you aren’t focussed and committed to improving your body, don’t waste your money.  It simply won’t work unless you put major effort into the program.
